A Delegation from COTU-K Attends the 7th NCEW Congress in Eritrea
COTU (K) delegates together with other delegations of trade unionists from different African States in Solidarity joined their Eritrean Brothers and sisters in attending the 7th National Confederation of Eritrean Workers (NCEW) Congress in Eritrea. The Congress was held at the NCEW Solidarity Center in Asmara.
The Key Note Address was given by President Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea. The Congress came at a time when Eritrea has just celebrated its 25th anniversary since its independence. In his address President Afwerki said;
Even as we pay tribute to the long and proud history of struggle of Eritrean workers, it is imperative and timely to ask what the NCEW has achieved in this past quarter of a century. Where does the NCEW want to go and how will it proceed in the years ahead?
The president alongside NCEW later hosted all the guests to a wonderful dinner banquet courtesy of the president and NCEW. During the dinner every country delegation was given an opportunity by President Afwerki to greet the gathering, ask questions and give a message. Bro. Nadome who is the Assistant Secretary General of COTU-K as the head of the Kenyan delegation spoke on behalf of Kenya. He gave Fraternal greetings from Bro. Atwoli, he then thanked the president and NCEW for the wonderful reception accorded to the delegates and stressed that COTU-K will always value the close and warm relationship it shares with NCEW.
