ACFTU of China Holds Bilateral Talks with COTU-K
A delegation comprising of the top leadership of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) led Mr. ZHAO Shihong is currently visiting Kenya to hold bilateral talks with COTU-K. Mr. ZHAO Shihong is a Member of the ACFTU Secretariat where he serves as the Director-General of Networking Department. Other members of the delegation include; Mr. CAI Yide who is the Vice-Chairman of National Committee of Agricultural, Forestry, Water Conservancy and Meteorological Workers’ Union an affiliate of ACFTU, Mr. LI Xiaobo the Deputy Director-General in charge of International Liaison Department at ACFTU, Ms. WANG Xuemei the Chief of Africa & West Asia Division of International Liaison Department at ACFTU, Mr. WU Jianguang the Deputy Chief of Division in charge of Networking Department at ACFTU and Mr. YANG Yong Policy Advisor for Africa & West Asia Division in charge of International Liaison Department at ACFTU.
The COTU-K Delegation was led by the Secretary General Bro. Francis Atwoli, the rest of the delegation who are also COTU-K Board members included; John Arap Chumo General Secretary, Railways Workers Union, Kenya (RAWU, K), Boniface Kavuvi General Secretary of Kenya Union of Commercial Food and Allied Workers (KUCFAW), Bro. Albert Njeru General Secretary, Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals & Allied (KUDHEIHA), Sis. Rebecca M. Nyathogora Treasurer General, COTU (K), Rev. Joel K. Chebii, 1st Vice Chairman-General of COTU (K), Bro. Eric Oduor General Secretary, Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ) and Sis. Rose Omamo General Secretary of Amalgamated Union of Kenya Metal Workers (AUKMW)
The fruitful deliberation majorly centered on how the two labour centers can collaborate more, strengthen their exchange programmes and explore more ways to deepen their current partnerships. Bro. Atwoli thanked the Chinese delegation for being a vital donor partner to COTU-K. The Chinese delegation will visit a number of Unions within Nairobi and Mombasa to learn more about the labour movement from different industries in Kenya.
Brother Atwoli was presented by several gifts by the Head of the Chinese delegation Mr. ZHAO Shihong, notably a book by the current Chinese president Mr. Xi Jinping detailing the enormous strength of the Chinese dream, the history and operation of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
