Atwoli's comments on the MPs salaries
Both the country’s print and electronic media have been a wash lately with news of members of parliament seeking a pay rise….as most of them continue to condemn and vilify the Central Organization of Trade Unions, COTU (K) Secretary General of allegedly supporting MPs on their quest for better pay. (Read letters to the editor, Daily Nation, Tuesday 23rd April 2013).
However, whereas every Kenyan citizen has a constitutional right to express his/her views just like Atwoli on such issue of national importance, allow me to observe that most of the arsenals directed at the COTU (K) Boss are ill-advised and ought to have sought time to understand the context in which Atwoli made the comments.
The International Labour Organization, ILO Convention 19 of 1949 on protection of wages read together with the country’s Employment Act
Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
Francis Atwoli, EBS, MBS
SECRETARY GENERAL
