I wish to take great exception to your erroneous and misleading news’ article appearing in your copy of the Daily Nation, Monday, August 14, 2017 captioned
“Accept results, Atwoli tells Kenyans.”
The Central Organisation of Trade Unions, COTU (K) is a democratic and Independent Workers’ Umbrella body that wouldn’t wish to be dragged into convincing any Kenyan into accepting the results of the just concluded General Election and at no time did l address any press conference at my rural home at Khwisero nor was the author of the story present during my press conference at Solidarity Building in Nairobi.
For the records, I did call on His Excellency the President Elect Uhuru Kenyatta to reach out to the opposition Leader The Right Hon. Raila Odinga with a view to healing and unifying the Nation as well called on the Inspector General of Police to restrain his Officers not to use excessive force and live ammunitions on defenseless Kenyans who are expressing their anger on the election results thus the issue of me calling on Kenyans to accept the results when the losers have a democratic right to fault and which they have, is an absolute imagination by the writer with the intention of achieving his own selfish interest.
To this end, l demand an unequivocal apology from your newspapers retracting the same and with similar prominence.
Francis Atwoli, NOM(DZA) EBS, MBS
