SG’S 55TH MADARAKA DAY CELEBRATIONS’ WISHES

SG’S 55TH MADARAKA DAY CELEBRATIONS’ WISHES

Just as it is said about Knowledge, to have Freedom is to have power!

Power to take charge & lead your own life!

And to this hard earned freedom, we have had every reason to smile, raise high & wave our own flag every 1st of June, since 1963 in commemoration of the day that Kenya was granted internal self-rule by the British colonialists, which resulted into a complete acquisition of full independence on the 12th of December, of the same year.

And since then, this day is celebrated as Jamhuri (independence) Day, and Kenya adopted a republican form of Government…

Kenya’s flag was adopted on December 12, 1963 – where the black represents the people of Kenya, the red represents blood, the green represents natural wealth, and the white represents peace. The Masai shield and spears represents the defense of freedom.

On behalf of myself, the entire fraternity of the Labour movement & COTU (K), I wish you a happy 55th Madaraka  day – this 1st of June 2018.
I pledge that the labour of our past heroes shall not be in vain our present labour will lead us to a prosperous and self sustaining Nation.

Francis Atwoli – NOM(DZA) EBS, MBS
 SECTRETARY GENERAL COTU-KENYA
