COTU (K) SG meeting with the Swedish Ambassador

Today morning, on the invitation of the Swedish Ambassador, COTU (K)’s Secretary General Dr. Francis Atwoli paid a courtesy call to Her Excellency Caroline Vicini at her Office in Gigiri.

The two discussed a raft of issues, inter alia, workers education programs and how the same can be expanded to reach out to more members, organizing programs currently being undertaken by COTU-K to enrol more members and how workers and the rest of Kenyans could be reached out on a sensitization program in the wake of the 2022  General Elections and taming the ever polorizing political landscape.

They also discussed COTU (K)’s will be role in the country’s National Action Plan as an important pillar in the quest for Decent Work. 

The Secretary General, equally, as the President of the Organization of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) briefed Her Excellency on the general state of the continent’s socio-economic and political situation and the role workers can play in accelerating the Continent’s growth and particularly in the area of Job creation to the youths.

The Secretary General greatly appreciated the passion Her Excellency the Ambassador exhibited towards Kenya’s workers especially in the informal sector as well as youths and her commitment to extend her support and that of the Swedish government.
