World Day Against Child Labour
COTU(K) joined government representatives, government employers,workers and development partners at Lake Primary Kisumu in marking the World Day Against Child Labour .This day reminds us of our collective responsibility to protect every child from exploitation and to uphold their fundamental right to education,health,safety, and a dignified future.COTU(K) reaffirms its unwavering commitment to working alongside the Government of Kenya,employers, communities,international partners and all othe actors to eliminate all forms of child labour.We believe that every child belongs in school -not in hazardous workplaces,farms,mines, streets, or any environment that threatens their wellbeing and future .
Today’s Commemoration provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress we have made acknowledge, the challenges that remain , and renew our commitment to stronger laws , effective enforcement ,quality education ,decent jobs for adults and expanded social protection measures that address the root causes of child labour.Let us move beyond words and strengthen our partnerships to ensure that every child enjoys a safe childhood , access to education , and the opportunity to build a brighter future .Together ,we can create a society where children`s rights are protected and where decent work for adults eliminates the need for child labour.
