Bro. Atwoli Celebrates 50 Years as a Trade Unionist!

On Tuesday 5th September 2017, The Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General and Kenya Plantation and Agricultural Workers Union (KPAWU) Bro. Francis Atwoli celebrated 50 years as a trade unionist. His journey as a trade unionist started on 3rd September 1967.
Bro. Atwoli was joined by some of his family members, and other veteran trade unionist who included Bro. Benson Okwaro who is his deputy at COTU(K) and the general Secretary at Communication Workers Union and Bro. Rajab Mwondi who is the current Chairman of COTU(K).
The Keynote Address was given by the Chief Guest Bro. Linus Kaikai the current General Manager at Nation Media and the chairperson of the Editors Guilds. In his address he praised Bro. Atwoli for his industrious service to the labour movement in Kenya that has seen him relentlessly defend the Kenyan workers. He also pointed out that under Bro Atwoli’s stewardship COTU(K) has been steadfast in agitating for social justice.
At the end of the thanks giving celebration Bro Ernest Nadome thanked all who had attended the event to celebrate with Bro. Atwoli. In a special way he thanked Bro. Atwoli for having managed to instill unity within and its affiliates, a move that has seen the trade union moment grow from strength to strength.
